Brewster, How did that Newcastle Clone come out ? I'm a "Brand-new" home brewer and just ordered the Newcastle clone kit for my very first batch. I'm going straight to kegs, hope I know what I'm doing !

Started the Newcastle Clone MiniMash on 10/26/09. OG was dead on. Lots of trub produced. I pitched a starter from a quart mason jar with DME and the WhiteLabs culture of 3 days. 11/05/09 the SG was 1.016 (kit target 1.014) and tasted very close (although warm and not aged).
Going to 2nd fermenter for a couple days then bottling. Maybe the extra steps and priming sugar will get the SG to the kit target. Any thoughts why it might be elevated? |
